Motorcycle Mess 08.19.08

Okay so we bought Kevin a motorcycle back on June 4th and was given the temporary registration plate. As time went on, we kept calling and getting the run around about what was going on. Once the temporary plate expired we called to get a new one and they told us no they couldn't give us another temporary and that they are working on getting our plates. They said that the DMV was running about two weeks behind with plates because of the massive number of people purchasing motorcycles and scooters, this sounded logical to us. So we wait... the dang bolts kept falling out of the bike so Kevin called down to have the bike in under warranty and have it gone through and tightened. On the way to drop the bike off, the blinkers were not working so that was added to their list of things to fix. A week and a half later we finally got the bike back! Ridiculous. So Kevin is ticked about no plates still! He has called and/or stopped by nearly every other day to check on them. Excuse after excuse is all he got! So yesterday I got online and looked up consumer rights. We paid almost $300 for title and registrationto be taken care of and it was not being done. I called the DMV to look into more and the lady there did a VIN number search and told me that the DMV has never received any title or registration paperwork from Main Street Motorsport. I then asked if they where really running two weeks behind getting people plates and said absolutely not, not more than three days out. I was fuming! she gave me the name of the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division of Utah to file a complaint. I got on their website and it says that anytime you purchase a vehicle from a dealer, that dealer has only 45 days to file their paperwork to the state or you reserve the right to return the vehicle for a full refund! Yay, a way out of this mess! So I marched down with my printed paperwork in hand and demanded my money back on the motorcycle. The guy was none to happy to see ME! He was back peddling as fast as he could and gave me every excuse in the world about how it wasn't his fault. I stood firm and only offered that it was not my problem nor my fault either and confronted him about lying to us. He had nothing to say in return except the grand salesman line of "well can I make it right with a lifetime warranty or free oil changes and servicing", ohh I about died laughing! What an idiot. I told him heck no, I just want my money back and that I was going to take my money to somebody honest and I would never do business with him or his establishment every again, nor would they ever get a recommendation from me! I came home on a high! What a rush. Some days after being ripped off time and time again it feels real good to put someone where they belong, stand up for yourself, and be a B*TCH! :)
